Az Nia

Take the next professional step in your Nia experience . . .

The Nia White Belt Training is the first level of a five-belt training series that presents a body-centered approach to health, wellness and fitness. If you have a desire to share Nia in a professional capacity, the White Belt Training is your entryway into teaching. Those who choose to pursue the path of personal enrichment use this training as a starting point for becoming a master student.

You will earn money as a Nia Teacher. You will have support from Headquarters and your local community as you grow. You will have a practice and profession that can grow with you as you see best. Yes, there are dues but you receive wonderfully crafted instructional routines and support in so many ways. The training is not inexpensive but it will be memorable and your Trainer is putting their heart and soul, training and experience, professional commitment and personal desire for your success into every hour of your training. Even if you decide to never teach a class, and only experience the White Belt training, you will have done something good for you! You're worth it!

NIA is a synergistic non-impact dance form.  We combine 3 healing arts, 3 dance arts, and 3 martial arts.  We dance each class at our own level.

Who Does White Belt?

  • Students of Nia who want to go deeper into the practice by understanding Nia's creation, foundation and principles. It is not uncommon for students to take the White Belt training for their own spiritual or mental enrichment, physical challenge or as a vacation. Your 40-hour, or so, training will be a combination of challenging, inspiring, healing, study and movement.
  • Fitness and wellness instructors who need continuing education to keep their students striving and growing. Nia training and classes bring a wonderful and, for many, much needed cross-training for bodies in service. As a fitness instructor, often there is a "stickiness" to the programs we teach. Nia takes you out of the "stuck" and gets you moving through the
  • 9 Movement forms of Alexander Method, Feldenkreis, Yoga, Modern, Jazz, Duncan, Aikido, Tai Chi and Tae Kwon Do. Can you think of another practice that offers that in every class currently? How about one that has been around the world for more than 30 years?
  • Professionals in the counseling and coaching fields that are working with patients and clients to assist them in connecting to authentic movement and emotion. Because of Nia's unique structure of allowing for individualized expression, healing can be felt in each experience. Students often will enjoy Nia outside of the classroom, in the comfort of their own space.
  • Nia was created in 1983 by Carlos and Debbie Rosas, a dynamic duo of innovation and inspiration. Nia is for all - men, women, children, even babies have been in attendance and can experience the Nia sensation!
